Our Copywriting Process

From start to finish, we'll make the whole process simple, and stress-free.

Step 1: First Discussion

​This takes place after you've completed this form, emailed, or called us.

 

At this stage, our aim is to get an idea of what you need, and when you need it.

 

So that we can provide you with an accurate quote, we'll ask you questions such as:

  • What copywriting, content writing, or editing do you need help with?
     

  • What's the purpose of the piece? What do you want to achieve?
     

  • Who's your target market or ideal audience?
     

  • Roughly how many words do you need?
     

  • What's your deadline?

Often we'll be able to give you an estimate immediately, and if it suits your budgets, we can move straight on to the next step.

Step 2: Project Proposal

​At this stage, we'll send you a proposal for your project, based on our first discussion. 

We'll outline what our fees include, key deliverables, and deadline dates, so you can make sure that we've covered everything you need.

Please note that the project will only commence once you sign and return the proposal, and pay the commencement invoice. 

Step 3: Commencement Payment

Once you've agreed to the cost of the project, we'll send you a 50% commencement invoice, and our terms and conditions.

When the commencement invoice has been paid, we'll schedule your project.

Step 4: Book Briefing 

We'll arrange a time that suits you to discuss your project in more detail over the phone.

We'll send you a briefing document with all the information we need to create copy and/or content which meets your needs, and will help achieve your business goals. We ask that you complete this document, and gather any supporting documentation prior to the briefing, which will ensure we can get straight to work after our briefing session. 

Step 5: The Briefing Session

This is the most important part of the whole process.

We'll discuss what's important to your business, and what you want the copy/content that we create to achieve. This also helps us in identifying the tone and language which will engage your target audience.

What we'll talk about:

  • Your business - background, unique selling points, and your competitors.

  • Any specific project needs we haven't already covered.

  • Your target audience - who they are, what they need, and what they want.

  • Your brand - features, benefits, and your preferred tone of voice.

The briefing session usually lasts for half an hour, but this could vary depending on the project scope, and how much of the briefing document you've been able to complete before we talk. 

Step 6: The Writing

Once we've completed the briefing session, and you've sent any further documentation we need, you can relax while we take care of the writing.

Step 7: Drafts and Editing

We'll email you with the first draft in a Word document, by our agreed date.

You can track changes and make comments on the document, and this is the best way for you to provide your feedback. 

You'll have two rounds of amendments at no extra charge.

We can usually make each round of amendments within two business days.

Step 8: That's It! It Really Is That Easy!

If you're happy with what we've created, then so are we. We love it when our clients are satisfied. 

Now the copy or content that's been created can start to work its magic!

We'll send you our final invoice which needs to be paid within 14 days. 

Oh, and yes, the final copy and content is owned by you. So you can make edits to it in the future.
